Joe Calzaghe is not to impressed with the comments Carl Froch stated to the BBC yesterday. In fact, the retired legend feels Froch's comments are an "absolute joke" (and not in a funny way). Froch coming off his victory over Mikkel Kessler, went on record to say: "In Great Britain I’m number one. It’s between me and Lennox Lewis, depending on how far you are going back." It was that statement that rubbed Calzaghe the wrong way.
Quoted in South Wales Argus, in regards to Froch's statement, Calzaghe stated:
"It’s an absolute joke of a comment, I’d like to just let it go, but that to me is an attack on myself and several other great British boxers."
Calzaghe also feels Froch is highly delusional, explaining to the publication:
"The guy is highly, highly delusional if he believes that. After what? Beating Mikkel Kessler who has effectively been in semi-retirement for three years and is well short of his prime? And even that was only to level the scores after Kessler beat him."
