It's full throtle ahead of Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul 'Canelo" Alvarez with a record already being broken. According to Golden Boy's CEO, Richard Schaefer the mega fight set for Sept. 14th, has broken the live-gate receipts (for boxing).
Boxing tickets for The One: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul Alvarez sold out within 24 hrs. of hitting the market. Scahefer on ESPN stated the fight (which will go down at the MGM Grand Garden, LV) has generated in ticket sales $18,647,000. The number is expect to climb $19 million when final numbers are tallied.
Regarding the sale of tickets, Schaefer stated: "It's going to be the record. The MGM is calculating and has to do the ticket settlement, but it will definitely be the record."
The previous record went to Mayweather and his fight vs. Oscar De La Hoya (In '07 / Mayweather won on points at the MGM). That fight took in a record gate of $18,419,200.
