Kelly Pavlik explains why Manny Pacquiao is telling the truth...

Many believe Manny Pacquiao was lying when he said he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. with a shoulder injury. The last time Pacquiao made an excuse was his loss to Erik Morales. He showed us a picture here at Doghouse Boxing that his feet (due to the shoes / socks he wore) was full of blisters in his outing against Morales. It must have been an honest excuse because Pacquiao would face Morales two more times in his career (this time with different shoes) and the outcomes of both fights were dramatically different.

Losing to Morales in '05 by a 12 round unanimous decision, Pacquiao would face Morales in rematches (twice) the following year. In the first rematch, Pacquiao defeat Morales by TKO in the 10th round. In his 3rd and final meeting with Morales, Pacquiao sealed all doubt with a 3rd KO. Both rematches went down at Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

So, take into consideration that Pacquiao doesn't like to make excuses - and in my opinion he has been honest when he has made an excuse.

Recently while listening to the latest installment of On The Ropes Boxing Radio ( a feature found on our main page here at Doghouse Boxing), Kelly Pavlik came to the defense of Pacquiao, and explained why he believes Pacquiao is telling the truth when he excused his performance of a bummed shoulder vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pavlik told the radio program" "He (Pacman) wasn’t making that injury up because he was taking an anti-inflammatory, the commission let him take the anti-inflammatory shot on the shoulder and then they cut him off like two days before the fight.”

Now that is public record. Pacquiao was cut off two days before the fight with Mayweather.

Pavlik added: "I thought Pacquiao was gonna do a lot more against Mayweather, but who knows with that injury."

Perhaps you may still think it is an excuse, but with logic such as Pavlik offered, it's not a stretch at all to think Pacquiao was indeed suffering the fight with an injury.
