Why Pacquiao should fight Khan first, not Mayweather...
By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing (Dec 15, 2014)

Khan - Pacquiao - Mayweather
Khan - Pacquiao - Mayweather
Recently Floyd Mayweather somewhat stated he wanted a fight with Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd (2015). Of course Mayweather used his opportunity on a SHOWTIME Special that aired last week to express his desire to fight Pacquiao, but the fight would be dictated under his terms (No surprise there). Mayweather feels he is the bigger draw, due to recent Pay-per-view numbers. Pacquiao's recent battle again Chris Algieri in Macau China pulled in low numbers (275,000 PPV buys according to our source.)

The fight being held in China (different time zone than North America's market) and Algieri not being a household name was never going to help. However, as well all know, Pacquiao is still a massive name and big draw and worthy of our PPV dollar... especially when pitted against the right name... Enter Amir Khan.

It's fair to say that Khan has a massive name not only in the North American market, but he is also huge in his home country, England. Right now, perhaps a better bang for Pacquiao's buck is a fight against Khan and not Mayweather. If Pacquiao fought Khan first... you want to make a bet that would bring in the big pay-per-view numbers? Then what would Mayweather's excuse be? How could Mayweather dictate terms?

Pacquiao vs. Khan has a great back story to it. They use to spar together under Freddie Roach's tutelage. Roach has publicly stated Pacquiao had his way with Khan in those sparring sessions, even knocking him out. Khan has denied these charges from Roach.

Pacquiao vs. Khan - there is a fight here and not one to be overlooked. This is a fight that would sell well on PPV and should Pacquiao win... would put him right back in the hot seat for negotiating.

If Mayweather wants to undercut Pacquiao's value... then I suggest Pacquiao vs. Khan first. A win gives more power back to Pacquiao and takes away from Mayweather's demands.
