It's obvious that Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao should have taken place years ago. All the excuses have always been beyond silly. And as certain as this fight had more value years ago, it's still a hot item today... even if they are not the same fighters they were half a decade ago.
Recently quoted in the media, Boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya stated the obvious: "Obviously, this fight should've taken place 5 years ago," said De La Hoya, who added: "A lot of people say that they're not the same fighters they once were."
But the value of this fight remains, and the fans still want this showdown to happen.
De La Hoya added:
"Obviously, 5 years ago they were younger, they were faster, they were stronger. But the fight is still intriguing, even at this point, because you have the best against the best."
Perhaps too many years have gone by, but the fight is still wanted and should still be made. Excuses from Mayweather's side seem to be the stumbling blocks... but whoever is at blame, the only ones who can right this wrong is Mayweather and Pacquiao.
