Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook a Huge Money Maker says ESPN Boxing Analyst

(L-R) Kell Brook and Amir Khan face to face on Sky Sports.
By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. Win or lose, thanks to an exciting style and no fear of fighting anyone, Amir Khan is a name that sells well amongst boxing fans in America. He has made a name for himself, and his recent switch to Virgil Hunter (as his trainer, instead of Freddie Roach) has made for a lot of renewed interest in the Kid from Bolton. That being said, I don't think all the big fights for Khan necessarily have to come from and on American soil... not when there is Kell Brook in his home backyard of Britain. Now as much as I would like to see a Khan vs. Brook match-up, is it feasible in terms of it being a money making event? Well Boxing Analyst from ESPN (and the Independent), Steve Bunce seems to think so...

Steve Bunce
In his recent column for ESPN, veteran boxing analyst, Steve Bunce had this to about a Khan vs. Brook battle in terms of making money. Bunce writes: "Kell Brook and Amir Khan in this country (UK) would be a 35,000 people fight. It would be a money generator and that is what it is all about. It is simple; that is why fighters get in the ring. When they are professional and they have had a couple of hard years where things haven't gone right, they are fighting for money. If there is pride attached or a belt for grabs, it is fantastic - but it is all about pound notes ".

I too feel strongly that this would be a money maker and that fans not only in Britain, but also in the North American market would be interested. What I suggest is that Kell Brook demand his promoter (in this case, Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing) get him on American soil and TV and make a serious name for himself. I think Brook is exciting and gifted enough to capture the minds and hearts of Americans and that in turn would force the attention of Khan.

Regardless, Khan vs. Brook is one fight I hope happens sooner, rather than later.
