Speaking to Gareth Jones of South Wales Echo (ic.Wales), Evander Holyfield who was in Cardiff yesterday to help promote his new book, took the time out to discuss the Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins fight that is scheduled for April 19th in Las Vegas. Holyfield stated the fight will be a “It’s a 50-50 fight.”

Holyfield knows Calzaghe is a decent fighter, but also knows Hopkins has loads of experience. Holyfield warned that if Calzaghe lets Hopkins in close, Hopkins will utilize his skills to take advantage.

Holyfield quoted by Gareth Jones stated to the publication: “He’ll wrestle with him. If he lets Bernard too close, he knows how to smother him."

Holyfield warned that Calzaghe will need to stay focused. “Calzaghe has to keep his composure and box. He’s the younger fighter, he’s supposed to be faster, he’s got to make the other guy fight his fight,” said Holyfield.

In regards to this weekend's fight with David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli, Holyfield tells Jones: “Both guys hit hard, so the one with the better skills should prevail because he’ll be hit less."
