On Thursday night, Andre Ward defeated Rubin Williams late in the seventh round to ensure his unbeaten record remains perfect.

Ward (15-0, 10 KOs), never lost control the fight. A cut over Williams' left eye would eventually end the fight. The cut opened early in the fight and grew until the referee had seen enough. With only 5 seconds left in the seventh round, the referee stopped the fight.

After the fight, Ward stated: "I had to bring my best game in order to beat him."

Ward added: "I had to take my time, and then I knew I had to step it up from the fifth round on."

Ward is ready for the future, but remains cautious, stating: "I'm ready for my time to shine, but I've got to be realistic. Hopefully I'll bring a breath of fresh air to the sport of boxing."
