On April 19th, Joe Calzaghe faces Bernard Hopkins in a highly anticipated fight set to take place in Las Vegas. According to a report by Steve Royce of the Daily Mirror, Calzaghe is set to arrive in Las Vegas in seven days' time for his final preparations for Hopkins.

Quoted by Royce, Calzaghe is adamant that he will not lose his Vegas battle with Hopkins and ridiculed other British fighters who have gone to Vegas only to lose.

Quoted in the Daily Mirror, Calzaghe stated: "A lot of British boxing legends have gone to Vegas for big fights and lost." Calzaghe went on to diss the names of high profile UK boxers who have failed in Vegas, including Ricky Hatton and Prince Naseem Hamed. Calzaghe stated: "Barry McGuigan, Frank Bruno, Naseem Hamed and Ricky Hatton were all beaten in the city."

Calzaghe knows full well that his fight with Hopkins will indeed be one of the biggest fights in Vegas involving a British fighter, and he is determined not to make the same mistakes that other British fighters have made in Vegas.

Calzaghe stated: "I will put an end to the bad run. My fight with Hopkins is one of the biggest ever involving a British boxer in Las Vegas and I will not make the same mistakes as some of the others made."
