Roy Jones Jr. Disses Floyd Mayweather ahead of Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley Clash

By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. - In a recent interview with Yahoo! Sports Radio, Roy Jones Jr. ripped into Floyd "Money" Mayweather for not proving he is the best fighter. Jones Jr. believes "Money" Mayweather is avoiding Manny Pacquiao and is not proving he is the best by avoiding the best opponents.

Giving his thoughts on Pacquiao and Mayweather, Jones Jr. told the radio program: "(Pacquiao) didn't have to take this fight," referring to Timothy Bradley who Pacquiao faces Today at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. "But he took it because he wanted to prove he's the best fighter around." Jones Jr. then went on to diss "Money" Mayweather, stating: "Floyd Mayweather, on the other hand, said he's the best fighter around, but he's not proving it by taking on the best opponents around. He's just showing through his words he thinks he's the best fighter around."

Some may believe Jones Jr. has some merit to his statement, but I think it's rather harsh considering the source. It could easily be argued that in his Prime and through much of his career, Roy Jones Jr. often avoided the best challenges in search of the least risk with the highest pay out. Jones Jr. made good money fighting no-hopers and giving fans fights they didn't care for.
