He should be known as Dr. Hopkins. Bernard Hopkins should be called a surgeon for the operation he preformed on Kelly Pavlik. Written off for dead and criticized for having an old body with aging muscles and reflexes, Hopkins once again has proven the doubters all wrong. Hopkins maybe up there in age, but a body transplant is not need... and anyone who thinks otherwise, is in serious need of a brain transplant!

On Saturday night live from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Hopkins once again proved to be simply
amazing by dominating Pavlik over 12 rounds by scores of 119-106, 118-108 and 117-109.

After the fight Hopkins stated he wasn't ready to quit and capped his dominating performance as his best yet. Hopkins felt he out did himself better than he did when he fought the likes of Tito Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya. "I could box another two to three years," stated Hopkins, adding: "I think this was my best performance, better than Tarver, better than Trinidad, better than Oscar [De La Hoya]. I am extremely happy tonight. Ninety percent of the media picked Pavlik. I always appreciate naysayers. That is what motivates me -- when people are against me. I don't wish I was like that but that's the way it is."

For the record, I am not one of those who counted Hopkins out... but I certainly didn't count Pavlik out either. Both fighters put their heart into the fight... but Hopkins was to hot to be stopped and had too much fire in his belly to lose. In the end, the fight was rewarding and as much as I loved Hopkins before tonight... I walk away with much more respect for the 43 year's young, Hopkins.
