On April 12 at the St. Pete Times Forum, Antonio Tarver takes on Clinton Woods. In a recent interview conducted by Rick Brown of The Ledger, Tarver answered many questions in regards to his past, his present and the future. Tarver also discussed his love for Boxing and how he is also a huge fan of the sport. Tarver even discussed why Boxing is better than MMA.

Brown asked Tarver if he was fan of the sport? Tarver not only confirmed he was, but told the publication
why Mixed Martial Arts can not compete. Tarver answered the question, stating: "Oh yeah. I'm still a fan. I was just watching the fight that occurred (March 22 between Joel Casamayor and Michael Katsidis). Casamayor is what boxing is all about."

Tarver went further in depth with his repsonse, and brought MMA into the fold, saying: "Everyone is talking about the MMA. But MMA really can't compete with fights like that - fights where the boxer seems totally out of it, then comes back and win. In MMA, once a guy is out, it's over. That's why boxing is the best."

Tarver added: "There's no comparison. It's the sweet science. How many times have you seen MMA fighters get up? They either tap out or don't get up. In boxing, there's an ebb and flow. Boxing will always be a premiere sport. There's too much history and it was passed on from the fighters that came before us. So it's up to (Oscar) De La Hoya, (Bernard) Hopkins, (Floyd) Mayweather, myself, to carry the torch."
