According to a report by ESPN, Wladimir Klitschko who has two mandatory challengers to deal with, is trying to get an exception for one of the fights. Klitschko's mandatories are, the IBF's Alexander Povetkin and the WBO's Tony Thompson.

Both mandatory bouts are now due. According to ESPN's report, Klitschko plans to first fight against Thompson.

Klitschko's adviser, Shelly Finkel, tells ESPN that they are trying to secure an exception from the IBF so they can go ahead with the Thompson fight first. Finkel stated: "It looks like if they [IBF] grant our wishes it will be Tony next."

Finkel added: "Tony has been waiting the longest and that is the direction we want to go in. He deserves the first shot."

Finkel also stated that if Klitschko defeats Thompson, he would then honor his obligation to Povetkin, sometime in the fall.
