Felix Sturm has stopped Jamie Pittman to retained his World Boxing Association middleweight title. Sturm won by way of a seventh round stoppage over the Australian challenger. Referee Russell Mora ended the fight with just 36 seconds gone in the round.

Sturm, 29, was never in trouble against Pittman. Pittman was sent to the canvas in the fifth round with a left hook, and in the final three rounds Sturm picked up his pace, pummeling Pittman and opening a cut about the Aussie's
eyebrow.

After the victory, Sturm stated:"I learned from my mistakes. You could see tonight my best weapon, my boxing skills, my movement."

After losing, Pittman stated: "It's the first time I've gone down to the canvas, but I never give up. I gave everything - then I had the problem with the eye."

Sturm's professional record now stands at 29 victories, with 12 knockouts, two defeats and one draw. Pittman's record is now 16 wins, 7 by knock out and 1 loss.
