This coming April 19th on HBO, Joe Calzaghe takes on what many are considering his toughest challenge in Bernard Hopkins. At a recent teleconference with the media, Calzaghe was asked if he thought beating a guy like Hopkins at this point in his career would anything for his legacy?

Joe Calzaghe answered the question, stating: "Of course it does. Early in the day, it’s a challenge in itself to go to America and to win. At the end of the day you – let’s face it, I’m going outside my
comfort zone, and at the end of the day you’re the Golden Boy fighter, so at the end of the day I have to not just go there and win, I have to go there and win a proper win."

Calzaghe went on to add, noting Hopkins is a difficult task and feels that it can be disputed that Hopkins' last lost came to Roy Jones Jr. Calzaghe stated: I have to go there and dominate. And that’s a difficult task to do against somebody like Hopkins . At the end of the day I know you say he’s 42, 43, but he’s still an excellent fighter. You can't take that away from him. Look at his last two fights, he has won comfortably."

Calzaghe added: "The guy can still fight – he’s a very good fighter. The two fights against (Jermain) Taylor were disputed decisions, so you can make a case to say his last loss was to Roy Jones all those years ago. So he’s still a very good fighter."
