According to a report by Edri K. Aznar and published by the Sun Star Cebu, Juan Manuel Marquez wants a rematch so badly with Manny Pacquiao that the Mexican fighter has personally gone to the Philippines to try to convince Manny Pacquiao to take a rematch. At this time however, Pacquiao is focused on his next challenge, a fight with David Diaz.

Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach is quoted by the Sun Star saying that after the first Pacquiao-Marquez
encounter in 2004, that Marquez gave Pacquiao a hard time, making the Filipino Superstar wait four years for a rematch.

“Marquez let us wait for four years. So we’ll let him wait too,” said Roach, adding Marquez is just in it for the money. Roach feels Marquez is in it only for the money because Pacquiao fights draw a lot of money. Roach stated: “That’s why he wants to fight Pacquiao because he wants to have a big payday.”

Golden Boy Promotions Vice President Eric Gomez, said he wanted the Marquez-Pacquiao rematch held before the fight with Diaz. “We’re ready we want him to sign now. We want to fight him before the Diaz fight, not after,” said Gomez.
