Floyd Mayweather Jr joins the Indy 500: Mayweather Speaks on Racing Gig

A recent article out by Steven English for autosport.com, is reporting that Floyd Mayweather will team up with the Indy Car racing circuit for next month's highly popular, Indianapolis 500. Mayweather Jr's popularity is running high these days and the Indianapolis 500 will utilize Mayweather Jr. as their official starter for next month's race.

Mayweather Jr. is set to wave the green flag on May 25th to officially start the 92nd running of the Indy 500.

Quoted by English, Mayweather stated: "To be asked to wave the green flag at the Indianapolis 500 is an incredible honor. I'm extremely excited to be a part of this event and to see the best drivers in the world perform on the biggest stage in all of sport."

Joie Chitwood, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway president stated in regards to Mayweather Jr. joining Indy this year: ""The speed, power, and charisma that he (Mayweather) has shown in the ring are a perfect match for the excitement of the greatest spectacle in racing."
