Paulie Malignaggi who defeated Cameroon’s Herman Ngoudjo at Bally’s Atlantic City by unanimous decision on Saturday with scores of 117-111, 116-113 and 115-113, is now looking ahead to a possible clash with UK's Ricky "Hitman" Hatton.

Malignaggi's promoter Lou DiBella was quoted by Tim Smith, ESPN, stating: "They (Hatton camp) may be interested in taking an interim fight in between."

DiBella added: "But we're very interested in making a Malignaggi-Hatton match in 2008. Ricky said he's not going to fight at 147 again and that he's coming down to 140. I think Paulie's the best guy at 140."

Malignaggi also quoted by Tim Smith, stated: "Ricky Hatton needs me at this point."

Malignaggi added: "If he comes back down to 140 pounds, he can't fight slubs anymore. I think I'm the biggest name at 140 besides Ricky Hatton."

Malignaggi is not interested in fighting Hatton in the UK and dissed Hatton for the free rides he has gotten in England, saying: "I think I can hold some of the cards with Ricky Hatton. You know what, Ricky: Bring it over, buddy. You've had enough free rides in England. Bring it over here now."
