After watching Floyd Mayweather Jr dismantle Ricky Hatton with a tenth round KO to retain WBC welterweight title, former Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis feels Hatton should consider hanging up his gloves and retiring from the sport of boxing.

In regards to what Lewis feels should be next for Hatton, Lewis told the BBC 5 Live's Sportsweek: "Ricky now has to sit down and see how he wants to re-establish his career."

"But if it were me, unless I felt I could come back and actually beat Mayweather, then I would retire.

Lewis went on to say Mayweather Jr was the better man on Saturday, stating to the BBC: "He can say he tried his best but Floyd was the better man on the night."

Lewis added more advice for Hatton, saying: "If (welterweight) is not the weight he performs at best then I wouldn't advise him to box there again."

Lewis feels Hatton has nothing left to prove, and after boxing for so long, the decision to retire should be left to Hatton.

Lewis stated: "He's been boxing for his whole life and I don't think he has anything else to prove, but it should be up to Ricky if he wants
to retire."
