Ever since the name "FRAUD" Mayweather Jr. was coined by Doug Fischer in his popular Mail bag (a great feature on MaxBoxing.com, and the best place to check the pulse of the fans), the name has caught on like Wild flower. The issue stems from a simple fact that Mayweather Jr. has refused his biggest pay day ever, 8 million dollars to face Antonio Margarito. This has prompted fans world wide on message boards every where to run with the name "FRAUD" Mayweather. Promoter Bob Arum has gone on record to say Mayweather fears Margarito could derail his plans for a Mega show down with Boxing's number one draw, Oscar De la
Hoya.

So focused on De la Hoya that Mayweather doesn't seem to fear the fans revolt towards him. Opting to forget the "FRAUD" title he is getting from his refusal to set the record straight and fight Margarito, Mayweather wants to the world to know Margarito is not a household name. Well if that were true, then 8 million dollars would never have been put forth by Promoter Bob Arum. A "no name" Brand worth 8 million dollars.... how stupid it is for Mayweather to label an 8 million dollar offer as basically a "no name" brand? After all "no name" products are cheap and 8 million dollars even by today's standards is anything but cheap.

If Mayweather wants to shake the "FRAUD" tag off as quickly as it came on, he needs to put the Money where his mouth is. Here is my suggestion...

Why not a box-off?

Winner between Mayweather - Margarito gets to face De la Hoya. Why not? De la Hoya can sell any venue with his name attached to it. If he faces Mayweather or Margarito in his final fight, it will generate big dollar no matter what. Especially if Margarito were to beat Mayweather. A Mexican vs. a Mexican in Oscar's final fight... damn right that would be a hot ticket fight. After all if Oscar can sell a $50 PPV fighting Yori Boy Campas, such as he did a few years back, then imagine what a fight with Margarito could and would do in sales? Especially if he earned his shot by defeating Mayweather.

Don't kid yourself... a box-off would be huge and create so much more interest in De la Hoya's last bout, no matter who would win the right to face De la Hoya. The out come makes more money for De la Hoya's last bout, because the box-off would naturally put way more interest in his last fight.

All Oscar has do do is demand it. Demand that he would face the winner of Mayweather vs. Margarito. After all, what Oscar wants, the Golden one gets.

It would put an end to Mayweather's running around from Margarito, and it would put more interest in Oscar's last fight.

Just a suggestion, one worthy. All the names involved would get a fair chance of not only earning a shot at De la Hoya but also doing boxing a world of good and earn the kind of respect Fans do not forget. Fans are tired of the excuses and what seems like the greedy attitude of boxers who do not care what the fans WANT, but instead make fans pay for what they do NOT want.

Mayweather vs. Margarito and the winner gets De la Hoya. That's the recipe for making De la Hoya's last bout more spectacular and more intriguing than anyone could image. Sure De la Hoya vs. Mayweather will sell like hot cakes... but we can turn it up a notch and have them hot cakes ignite on fire with a box-off between Mayweather and Margarito for the rights to De la Hoya's last bout.
