In Saturday night Boxing action at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Ca. and live on HBO's "Boxing After Dark", Nonito Donaire retained his WBO and IBF super bantamweight titles after he stopped Toshiaki Nishioka in the 9th round. At 1:54 in the 9th round, Doanire knocked Nishioka down to the canvas. Although Nishioka got back on his feet, his corner had seen enough and threw in the towel.
With the victory, Donaire sees his professional record improve to 30-1, with 19 knockouts. Nishioka's record drops to 39-5-3, with 24 knockouts.
