Ricky Hatton has a message for Joe Calzaghe

Ricky Hatton has a message for Joe Calzaghe

With Joe Calzaghe's unanimous points victory over Roy Jones Jr., this past Saturday, many feel now might be a good time for Calzaghe to retire. One such person who thinks Calzaghe should hang up the gloves is fellow British boxer, Ricky Hatton.

Hatton quoted in the Sun UK, has a message for Calzaghe, who he feels should retire on top, telling the publication there is nothing left for Calzaghe to accomplish.

Hatton also thinks that calls for Calzaghe to face off against Chad Dawson is a load of crap and feels that after beating Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr., there is no better way for an exit.

Feeling it's a load of crap for Calzaghe to fight Dawson, Hatton tells the publication: "They're going on about Joe should fight Dawson, I think that's a load of rubbish." Hatton went on to list some of Calzaghe's recent accomplishments, stating: "Joe has beaten Bernard Hopkins, he's beaten Jones - you can't get a better way to bow out, really."

Hatton (44-1) fights later this month on the 22nd, at The MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, where he faces off against Paulie Malignaggi (25-1) for the Ring Magazine World Jr. Welterweight Championship.
