According to Billy Graham, Ricky Hatton's former long time Trainer, Hatton should not have taken on Juan Lazcano last May due to a chest infection. Graham say Hatton was "heroic" in taking the fight and going on to win it with a lop-sided decision.

It was the last time Graham and Hatton worked together in a fight, and it was a fight Graham says should have never happened on that night.

Graham quoted by Ring magazine, stated if he had been in control, he would have taken Hatton out of the fight before it even started. Graham tells Ring Magazine: "If I had been in control, I would have pulled him out. The fight would not have taken place when it did." It was apparent to Graham just how serious the infection was.

Graham added that what Hatton did was heroic, noting he knew it wouldn't be a great performance by Hatton. Graham stated: "Ricky was nothing short of heroic, given the way in which he had to push himself through training. I knew that it would not be a vintage Ricky Hatton performance."

You can catch Hatton when returns to action with his new trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. on November 22nd to take on Paulie Malignaggi.
