No one would have liked to see Roy Jones Jr. defeat Joe Calzaghe, more than Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins who was at ringside last Saturday to witness Jones Jr's unanimous points loss to Calzaghe, was hoping Jones Jr. would win and set up interest in a rematch. However, after seeing Jones Jr. lose in such a fashion, Hopkins is no longer the least bit interested in fighting Jones Jr.

Speaking to Iain Axon of frankwarren.tv, Hopkins stated he was no longer interested in persuing a rematch with
Roy Jones Jr. "I don't want to fight Roy, not after (Saturday) night," said Hopkins, adding: "What's the point?"

Hopkins feels that after Saturday's performance, Jones Jr. is washed up, stating Jones Jr. can no longer do the things he could when he was known in Boxing as Superman. "The things that he was able to do because he was Superman he can't do them anymore," said Hopkins.

Hopkins also discussed Jones Jr's physical appearance, stating: "Physically he looked old. His face was shrunken. It looked like that against Trinidad. He just didn't look strong." Hopkins went on to add he feels it's time for Jones Jr. to hang up the gloves and retire.
