Fans of the sport got a real treat this past weekend with Ricky Hatton's impressive 11th round TKO of Paulie Malignaggi. Hatton under the guidance of his new trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr. completely dominated the fight. So much was the domination of Malignaggi, that his trainer Buddy McGirt threw in the towel. It was a great night for Hatton and an excellent night for boxing.
With Hatton's impressive victory, fans are now left to ponder what Hatton's next move is. Hatton wants the
winner of Oscar De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao. However, Hatton wants the winner to be the Pound for Pound King, Pacquiao.
By defeating Pacquiao, Hatton sees himself as the Pound for Pound champ. Quoted by Simon Parker of PA Sports, Hatton recently stated: "Whether it's the winner or the loser, it's a great fight but you would want it to be against the winner. I would like it to be Pacquiao, he's the best pound for pound fighter in the world. If Pacquiao beats Oscar I will get my dream of becoming the best pound for pound fighter in the world."
De La Hoya vs Manny Pacquiao takes place on December 6th and can be viewed only on HBO Pay-Per-View, or live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
