Mayweather says retirement an excuse to not fight Oscar De La Hoya: Also not sure if continuing with De La Hoya

Recently Floyd Mayweather Sr. dropped by The Factory in Duluth and made an appearance at an open house for the Factory's new boxing training facility. Mayweather Sr. who was there helping youths with tips on training, was quoted by the Gwinnett Herald in regards to his estranged son's retirement (Floyd Mayweather Jr.) and also his relationship with Oscar De La Hoya.

Mayweather Sr. doesn't think his son is retired, but rather feels his son is looking for a way out. Also,
Mayweather Sr. is not sure if he is still working with De la Hoya.

In regards to his son retiring, Mayweather Sr. stated: "I don't think he's done, he just wanted a reason to pull out of the fight," referring to a planned rematch with De la Hoya in September.

Now that his son has pulled out of the fight, Mayweather Sr. is not sure if this means an end to his training relationship with De La Hoya. "I don't know if I'll continue to train De la Hoya, I haven't spoken to him," said Mayweather Sr.
