Chicago - It has been 15 months since lightweight David Diaz last fought, but he returned with a victory on Saturday night against Jesus Chavez.
It was a close fight but around the 9th and 10th rounds, Diaz started to take control and went on to win a majority decision.
One Judge at ringside scored the bout even at 95-95, while the other two judges had scores of 97-93 and 96-94 for Diaz.
With the victory, Diaz's record improves to 35-2-1, while Chavez's record drops to 44-6-0.
On the co-main event, in junior lightweight action, Juan Carlos Martinez defeated Jose Andres Hernandez. Martinez record now stands at 17-11-1, while Hernandez's record drops to 22-5-0.
