Jermain Taylor is in a Hospital in Berlin Germany after suffering a knock-out with only seconds remaining in the final round against Arthur Abraham last night. Taylor was admitted to the Hospital so doctors could run brain scans and other medical tests.
Quoted by Kevin Mitchell of the Guardian (UK), Jermain Taylor's promoter, Lou DiBella stated: "He has severe concussion." Dibella went on to add that in the interest of being safe, Taylor who is suffering from short-term memory loss, will remain hospitalized for the coming days: "He also had some short-term memory loss and, in the interest of being completely safe he'll be in the hospital, probably for several days," stated DiBella.
DiBella went on to state that doctors believe the injury was sustained when Taylor's head hit the canvas and that Doctors do not want Taylor to fly. "They believe the area of his head that was hurting him was from his head hitting the canvas. He'll be in Berlin for another week because the doctors didn't want him to fly, but his wife and mother are with him," stated DiBella.
Taylor didn't seem to know what hit him, and asked DiBella and his wife later in the change room a couple times what round he had been knocked out in. DiBella is only interested in Taylor's health at this time and would not comment on if Taylor would continue with the SHOWTIME 6 man Tournament, other than to say: "Whether he continues in the tournament or not is not a decision that has to be made right this second. He suffered a bad knock out."
