The world is a buzz on on Manny Pacquiao these days, and why not? Pacquiao just keeps on thrilling fans on a global scale with thrilling performance after thrilling performance. His latest victory, a 12th round TKO of the extremely talented Miguel Cotto was a thing of beauty.
Listen, I have been amazed at Pacquiao for awhile now (haven't we all?), but this past Saturday was something really special. Amazing in fact! With each fight Pacquiao has been in, his popularity has leaped, but it
is his fight against Cotto that finally makes Pacquiao a superstar legend in Boxing. He is now in a super elite category. A category that few boxers will ever make it too. Sure, its been the accumulations of fights, but Pacquiao will never get much credit (even though he deserves credit) for Oscar De La Hoya or his pistol-whipping of Ricky Hatton, but his fight against Cotto will be recognized. Its the night a true legend was born, the night where Pacquiao went from a great boxer to one of The Greatest Of all Time.
Its easier to pin point the moment a movie star becomes a legend overnight. For Tom Cruise, it was his scene in "Ricky Business" where he slides across the floor in his socks and underwear. For Julia Roberts it was the moment she cracked her smile in "Pretty Woman" opposite Richard Gere. My point is, if you can understand, on Saturday night Manny Pacquiao transcended a line, he officially had his Tom Cruise "Risky Business" moment... it was like Pacquiao had slide across the floor to Bob Seager's Old Time Rock n' Roll in his underwear... and said to the world "I AM HERE... AND I AM GREAT"... and the world sat up a noticed.
On Saturday Night, the line was crossed, and in crossing that line Pacquiao became "One of the All Time Greatest".
