In a recent blog by Steve Kim for MaxBoxing, Richard Schaefer the CEO for Golden Boy Promotions confirmed that Juan Manuel Marquez will return to the ring May 1st, 2010 on HBO. Schaefer also confirmed that Marquez will return with or without Ricky Hatton. Hatton has expressed possible interest in returning to boxing to face Marquez, but is waiting for the New Year before he makes up his mind.
Kim writes on his blog for MaxBoxing: "Just got off the horn with Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer,
who informed me that the return of Juan Manuel Marquez will take place on May 1st on HBO. It may or may not come against Ricky Hatton. This broadcast could become a doubleheader featuring the duo in seperate fights. Marquez has not fought since losing to Floyd Mayweater back on September the 19th in Las Vegas.
Just my suggestion, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Marquez go back down to lightweight( where he belongs) and take on Michael Katsidis."- End of excerpt.
