According to published reports in the media, on Monday, James "Lights Out" Toney has had his one-year suspension for using illegal steroids cut in half.

Both James Toney and his opponent, Danny Batchelder, tested positive after their fight on May 24 in San Jose for banned steroids.

After testing positive for steroids, Toney was then banned for 12 months from professional boxing.

A report first published by the LA Daily News, confirms that the suspension has now been reduced to six months by the California State Athletic Commission.

With the latest ruling, Toney can now return to boxing from his steroids suspension as early as November 24 of this year.

According to published reports, Toney tested positive for the steroids Stanozolol and Boldenone, but has always denied he knowingly took the drugs.

Toney has stated: "I don't need steroids to beat anybody because I'm the best fighter in the world. I'm a 20-year veteran. I'm a legend."

Although Toney's steroid suspension has been cut in half, he must still pay a fine. The fine has been
reported to by $2,500.
