Boxing Result: Paulus Moses defeats Takehiro Shimada

Namibian - On Sunday, Paulus Moses defeated Takehiro Shimada by way of a unanimous decision. In defeating Shimada, Moses retained his WBA Lightweight Championship Belt.

Judges at ringside scored the fight 118-110, 119-109 and 119-109 all in favor of Moses of Nambia.

According to reports from ringside, Shimada, from Japan, had a hard first round. Shimada hit the canvas in the opening round after slipping while ducking a right hook.

Shimada appeared to never be the same after the fall. During the fight Shimada's left knee required medical attention between each of the rounds. Shimada was a rugged fighter and took some impressive uppercuts from Moses in the final 3 rounds.

After the fight Moses promised fans that, "This is just the beginning," and promised to bring to Namibia more championship titles.

Moses has a record now of 25 wins and no losses. Shimada's record now stands at 29 wins, 5 losses.
