Rancho Mirage, California - Saturday night on a SHOWTIME telecast, it took Timothy Bradley only 3 rounds to retain his WBO 140-pound title. Bradley defeated Nate Campbell with devastating punching and with a cut that opened up in the early 3rd round above Campbell's left eye.
It appeared on the television replays that an accidental head butt opened the nasty cut over Campbell's eye.
Campbell survived the 3rd and argued that the cut was caused by Bradley's head. Had the referee agreed with Campbell's assessment, then the bout would have been ruled a no-contest.
Unfortunately for Campbell the referee did not agree and handed Bradley the win by TKO.
