Bluewave Boxing LLC
announced today that rising bantamweight prospect Antonio Nieves of
Cleveland, Ohio has signed an exclusive multiyear promotional
agreement with promotional powerhouse Bluewave Boxing, LLC through
its Director of Boxing, Luis DeCubas. Nieves, who’s currently
undefeated in two professional bouts since just turning professional
in November of last year, signed the agreement yesterday at his
managers office located in Cleveland, Ohio. Nieves was among
the nation’s elite amateur fighters compiling over 60 amateur bouts
and making the 2012 Olympic Trials.
Cleveland
is well known to have an outstanding pool of talent including current
top prospects Mickey Bey (18-0-1), Mark Davis (16-0-0), Willie Nelson
(18-1-1) and Shawn Porter (19-0-0) just to name a few. Boxing Hall of
Famers includes the likes of Joey Maxim, Johnny Kilbane and Jimmy
Bivins.
Nieves
is extremely excited to be signed with Bluewave Boxing. “I’m
really happy to have signed the agreement; Luis DeCubas has been in
the sport more years than I’ve been born. He has the connections
and resources to get me to the top of my division. I want to thank my
parents and family for always supporting me, my manager, Tim
VanNewhouse, my whole training team -- Joseph Delguyd, Francis
Figueora and Cal Crowell. Also I’d like to say thanks to my fan
base I know they will be proud of my decision,” said Nieves.
In
his two professional outings, the 25-year old Antonio Nieves defeated
DeWayne Wisdom (2-4-0, 1 KOs) and Jesus Gonzalez (0-2-0) via
unanimous decisions. Nieves who has a pretty large fan base in
Cleveland hopes that he can continue to fight in his hometown. His
new promoter doesn’t seem that will be a problem. “I work closely
with Antonio’s manager, where we just recently signed another
Cleveland favorite undefeated jr. lightweight prospect Mark Davis
(16-0-0) together with Leon Margules from Warriors Boxing. We plan to
build Antonio into a star and keep Davis and him fighting on the same
cards as much as we can. I’m sure we can give Nieves the platform
he needs to get to the top,” stated DeCubas.
“I’m
very pleased of the signing. The negotiations went smooth; all the
legal work done by Mark E. Fisher of The Fisher Law Firm, P.L. and
Joe Delguyd of Joseph A Delguyd Co., LPA was handled very
professionally. I just recently signed Nieves as his manager and I’m
confident Bluewave will give him the opportunities we need to become
a World Champion. The promotional signing just makes my job so much
more rewarding,” said Tim VanNewhouse.
Nieves
is expected to return to the ring in August or September and Bluewave
Boxing will announce a date for his opponent soon. You can follow
