WINCHESTER, VA (October 18, 2012) This “Saturday Night Will Be Alright
For Fighting” as UNITED BOXERS presents an evening of action packed
professional boxing “LIVE from the Winchester Sportsplex in the Wells
Fargo Multi-Purpose Arena”.
Featured on the card are some of the brightest and best prospects in the sport of boxing from the DMV area and national scene.
Headlining
the action will be a six round welterweight bout between Baltimore’s
James “Keep Em Sleepin” Stevenson and Puerto Rican veteran Angel “The
White Tiger” Rios.
Undefeated with a record of 16-0-0 with 11
knockouts, the heavy handed Stevenson will return to action following
his devastating first round stoppage of Dontre King on SEPTEMBER 22.
With
a record of 9-14-0 (6KO’s), Bronx, NY native Rios is boxing’s true ROAD
WARRIOR having battled numerous acclaimed contenders and prospects in
their hometowns. Despite his relatively high loss total, Rios has never
been stopped!
Also featured on Saturday is undefeated
cruiserweight contender and CORPORATE LAWYER Venroy July, originally
from Jamaica, now residing in Suitland, Maryland.
With a record
of 11-0-2 and four knockouts, July is coming off a career best win on
JUNE 16, dominating the highly regarded Justin Howes in an eight round
unanimous decision win in Baltimore.
July will square off with veteran Cullen Rogers, 10-36-2 (6KO’s), of Akron, Ohio, in a scheduled four rounder.
Also
this Saturday night, local favorite Ritchie Andrews, 4-2-3 (1KO), of
Stuarts Draft, Virginia will battle Curtis Morton, 1-2-2, of Harlem, New
York.
The 21-year-old Andrews is coming off a four round decision win over Harold Parker on AUGUST 25 in Washington, D.C.
In
three special attraction bouts, sensational national prospects Trevor
McCumby, Ronald “Akeem” Ellis and Vic Pasillas will hit the Winchester
Sportsplex. All three, trained by the highly regarded Robert Garcia,
were featured on the undercard of the HBO televised doubleheader this
past Saturday night, OCTOBER 13 in Carson, California featuring the
Brandon Rios/Mike Alvarado and Nonito Donaire/Toshiaki Nishioka battles.
Just
20-years-old, McCumby is already one of the brightest prospects in the
sport. The heavy-handed Chicago native, now based in Glendale, AZ, has
blasted through the competition in his first seven bouts, all knockouts,
five in the first round. On Saturday night, McCumby drilled Mexican
veteran Eliseo Durazo to the canvas twice in the first round earning the
stoppage.
McCumby will square off against local Winchester fan
favorite and upset minded Danny Shull, 3-17-1 (1KO) in a scheduled four
round light heavyweight bout.
Super middleweight Ellis,
originally from Puerto Rico, sports a record of 4-0-0 (3KO’s), having
pitched a four round shut out victory over Katrell Strauss this past
Saturday night.
Now fighting out of Lynn, MA, the 22-year-old Ellis will clash with Akron, Ohio native Tierre King, 0-6-1, in a four round tilt.
Also
looking to stay undefeated East Los Angeles resident Pasillas, 3-0-0
(1KO) will fly cross-country to face Quincy Johnson, 0-6-1, in a four
round junior lightweight battle.
The 20-year-old Pasillas won a four round unanimous decision over Jazzma Hogue in Carson, CA this past Saturday night.
Rounding
out the card, in the welterweight division Oxnard, California’s Andy
Ruiz, 2-0-1, will clash with pro debuting Tobias Molina.
