Boxing Promoter Robert Waterman confirms details of Peterborough's next big fight night
By Media Report on Doghouse Boxing (Dec 17, 2012)
-
Cello Renda, crowned International
Masters light-heavyweight champion a couple of weeks ago, will top the bill at
the Peterborough Arena on Saturday, February 2 - and Waterman is putting
together an action-packed undercard.
He is planning a 12-fight bill and
hopes Sam Barron and Eli Frankham will both make their professional debuts.
Barron is currently being trained by
his father - and former pro - Gary - and Frankham, from Walpole St Andrew, is
looking to make his mark in the professional cruiserweight ranks after winning
European Schoolboy honours as an amateur.
A few years ago, Frankham had a trial
at Peterborough United before choosing boxing - and Tommy Martin made the same
sporting switch.
Waterman has confirmed the St Neots
whirlwind will have his second professional fight on the show after his
electrifying stoppage win on his debut.
Martin took big support with him to
Bethnal Green for his debut - and the teenage talent hopes his army of fans
will head along the A1 to watch him in Peterborough.
Nathan Dale, the former amateur star
from Norwich, looks to extend his unbeaten record on the show and Waterman
hopes fans' favourites including Caine Brodie, Jake Dyer, Jordan Gill and Jamie
Spence will all confirm their places on the show in the next few days.
Graham Earl has three boxers from his
stable on the show - Terry Holmes, Tom Little, Danny Mulhern - and hopes
Steve Kinnersley will be given the green light to make his paid debut in
Peterborough.
In March, Waterman brought professional
boxing back to the city after an absence of more than four years - and a bumper
crowd watched a cracking night of boxing.
Waterman said: "If the public keep
supporting us, we will keep putting on bigger and better shows.
"I'm hoping 2013 will be a very
big year for Cello Renda and I'm excited by the other prospects we have
on the bill.
"We are putting together a
value-for-money show and just hope that the public get behind us."
