DAR ES SALAAM, UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA, JULY 10, 2014: The International Boxing Federation Africa (IBF/Africa) will celebrate its 15th Anniversary in 29th, February 2015 with celebrations activities throughout Africa, Middle East & Persian Gulf countries.

In February 29th, 2000, the International Boxing Federation Africa (IBF/Africa) was officially registered by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the United Republic of Tanzania as an NGO to sanction boxing titles in African continent.

The registration of the International Boxing Federation Africa (IBF/Africa) followed the appointment of Mr. Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi from Tanzania in 1999 as the President of IBF/Africa by Robert Lee Sr. who was the founding President of International Boxing Federation and United States Boxing Association (IBF/USBA).

Ngowi was given the mandate to establish the activities of IBF in Africa and registering an organization to be known as IBF/Africa to be based in Africa and become the African continental representative for the IBF/USBA.

In 29, February 2000, IBF/Africa became the first ever continental body for the IBF/USBA and has since expanded to include Middle East & Persian Gulf in its operational area.

Following the successful establishment of IBF/Africa, other regional bodies such as IBF/Europe, IBF/Latino and IBF/Asia followed suit.

In the same year 2000, the former interim President of IBF/USBA, Hiawatha G. Knight visited Africa in the company of the IBF top ring officials and LAPD Patrol Commander Robert Byrd to officially unveiled the IBF/Africa as a continental body. The significance of the visit was the utmost important to show the whole world that IBF was expanding its horizon.

Former Interim President Knight was received and hosted by the Tanzanian First lady Her Excellency Anna Benjamin Mkapa at the State House in Dar Es Salaam.( attached photos shows standing in a group photos at the State House)

President Knight also held bilateral discussions with the current President of Tanzania His Excellency Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete who was the Foreign Minister at the offices of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Dar Es Salaam (attached photos shows).

While she was in Dar Es Salaam, President Knight visited the Kurasini Orphanage Center in the company of both First Lady H.E Anna Benjamin Mkapa and the President of IBF/Africa Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi as the attached photos shows.

IBF/Africa is run by the registered board of trustee that is fully recognized by the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA).

The executive management of IBF/Africa is run by Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi who has been the President & Commissioner of IBF/Africa since inception in 2000.

IBF/Africa is also recognized by Supreme Council For Sport In Africa that is the supreme body under the African Union or AU, formerly Organization of Africa Unity or OAU as the continental body sanctioning Africa titles.

The 15th Anniversary of IBF/Africa would usher in many new products and activities from title fights, sports tourism, peace and several community development programs.
