West Deptford, New Jersey (July 10, 2014) - On October 30, 1979, Tim Witherspoon scored a 1st round knockout over Joe Adams in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Witherspoon went on to fight a memorable battle with Larry Holmes and then go on to become a two-ime Heavyweight champion of the world.
Witherspoon's legacy still is going strong today as his cousin Chazz Witherspoon and some Tim Jr. both have carved out solid professional careers of their own.
Both Chazz and Tim Jr. will be in the ring this Saturday night at Riverwinds in West Deptford, NJ when Silver Spoon Promotions makes its promotional debut.
Chazz (30-3, 22 KO's) takes on Tyabb Beale (9-4-1, 3 KO's) in the eight round Heavyweight main event while Tim Jr. (10-4-1, 2 KO's) takes on Jeff Lentz (3-0, 1 KO) in a 6-round Welterweight co-feature.
When asked about this special event and being able to fight on the same card as his cousin, Chazz Witherspoon said, "It is a great opportunity for the Legacy of the Witherspoon's to continue. Big Tim is helping Tim Jr. out and fans will be able to see all of us on Saturday. I am looking forward to being able to share the card with Tim Jr. and have Tim Sr. in attendance."
"I am looking forward to fighting on the same card as Chazz," Said Tim Witherspoon Jr.
"I couldn't do this without my father and it is a good opportunity for our family. One thing I always wanted to do is fight on the same card as my dad. He was just finishing up as I was starting so this is the next best thing."
"I have been focusing on my own fight and I am looking forward to getting back in the ring as I have been off since January. I know Jeff Lentz is coming to win. He may be undefeated but he knows he is the underdog. I know he has a true warrior spirit and It will be a competitive fight.
