Dominic Ingle says unbeatens Jordan Gill, Sam O'Maison and Leigh Wood are known as 'The Three Amigos' in the gym and six days after Gill and O'Maison extended their unbeaten records, the third amigo was in action in home-town Nottingham.
After Ashley Lane pulled out of a scheduled Midlands title fight, matchmaker Jason McClory put together a match between Wood and Genilson De Jesus Santos for the vacant International Masters super-bantamweight title.
Santos came with an impressive-looking 23-5 (22) slate compiled against novices in South American - but Wood was too good and forced him to retire after three one-sided rounds.
Santos had an awkward, hands high, jerky style and Wood, who walked to the ring wearing a sombrero, had a look for a minute or so, assessed the job, then set about opening him up with body shots.
In the final minute of the round, Leigh switched his attack upstairs to turn the Brazilian's legs rubbery with a slashing right hand to the jaw and he did well to survive until the bell.
Santos started to lose ambition in the second and with little coming back at him, Wood did as he pleased, pot shotting from both stances and bringing "ooohs" from the crowd with corkscrew shots and uppercuts.
Finally, Santos was sent to his knees late in the third by a chopping right hand late in the third. Up at "eight," he got through to the bell, but showed little interest in carrying on and was pulled out by his corner.
Another unbeaten Ingle fighter, Atif Shafiq, made it six straight wins with a shut-out six-twos points win over Youssef Al-Hamidi.
The Rotherham teenager had Al-Hamidi in some discomfort with body shots and was a 59-55 points winner.
Newark light-welterweight Fergus Taylor was too big and too fresh for hard-as-nails Ryan McNicol in a four threes.
McNicol clearly felt body punches, but as he usually does, the Scot toughed it out to hear the final bell.
In a good four threes show opener, referee Grant Wallis couldn't separate Nottinghamshire light-middleweights Terry Maughan and Nathan Capeness.
He scored it 39-39.
Capeness, from Hucknall and cheered on by ex-British cruiserweight champion Shane McPhilbin, is now without a win in three fights, but is much better than that.
Gordon Watson has a title fight to look forward to after outpointing Joe Walsh over four threes.
Watson didn't have things all his own way against Walsh - his nose was bloodied in the last - but the Belper boxer still won 39-37 and now meets Jake Dyer for the vacant British Masters Bronze super-middleweight title in Newark on Sunday, November 17.
