Frank Warren - It is clear that Anthony Joshua’s promoter is looking to attract attention

Promoter Frank Warren has said that media reports today of plans to make a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are both inaccurate and wide of the mark.

Fury defeated Chisora, for the second time, last Saturday night at the ExCeL London to win the British, European and WBO International Heavyweight titles, whilst securing the mandatory challenger position to Wladimir Klitschko’s WBO title.

Whilst Joshua is an exciting talent, he is yet to go beyond three rounds in his first ten fights, mostly against ageing opposition and only has one championship fight on his record. However, Fury is now undefeated in 23 fights, and holds three championships belts and the number one spot with the WBO and Klitschko, who after his next fight in March, will be ordered to fight him next.

Tyson Fury, Fury Promotions and Hennessy Sports have an exclusive promotional agreement with Queensberry Promotions and the next fight is scheduled for February in London. Following that, Klitschko is the target and negotiations will open in March and if an agreement isn’t reached, the fight will go to purse bids and will take place within 120 days thereafter.

Joshua, seemingly a humble and level headed person, has already toned down the exaggerated comments of his promoter who stated only last month: “He destroys Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora right now”.

It is clear that Joshua’s promoter is looking to attract attention for his next fight against Kevin Johnson who has lost four of his five last fights that includes losses to both Fury and Chisora - who the Londoner also floored.

Right now Fury is in the heavyweight hot seat and his aim is to win the world heavyweight title next year and it’s currently a race between him and WBO number one middleweight, Billy Joe Saunders, himself, the British, Commonwealth and European Champion, as to who will be the first world champion from the travelling community.

Press Release provided by Queensbury Promotions.
