Gennady Golovkin Takes Out Grzegorz Proska In Style

By or provided from SecondsOut.com on Doghouse Boxing. Unbeaten WBA and IBO middleweight champ Gennady Golovkin, 24-0-(21), scored a sensational knockout against Grzegorz Proksa, 28-2-(21), to retain titles at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York on Saturday.

Golovkin completely controlled the bout up until decking Proska for the full count after 1.11 of the fifth round. Proska also hit the canvas in rounds one and four before hitting the deck face first in the fifth.

On the undercard undefeated Jonathan Gonzalez, 16-0-1-(13), and former WBO light. middleweight king Sergiy Dzinziruk, 37-1-1-( 23), fought to a 12 round draw. The scores were 117-111 for Gonzalez, 115-113 for Dzinziruk and 114-114.

The bout was in doubt just 24 hours before after Gonazalez weighed in nine pounds heavy for the light middleweight bout . In the end the bout went ahead at super middleweight after Dzinziruk agreed to being paid an extra $100k. The larger Gonzalez, expectedly landed the harder shots against the smaller former champ.
