Carl Froch has warned Yusaf Mack that he will be in for a rough night
in Nottingham when he challenges ‘The Cobra’ for his IBF super
middleweight title in Betfair’s ‘True Brit’ event on November 17.
Froch welcomes the American light heavyweight champion into his
fortress at the Capital FM Arena when he takes part in his ninth
consecutive World title fight.
‘The Cobra’ met Mack for the first time at a press conference at the
Arena where five months ago he ripped the IBF title from unbeaten Lucian
Bute with a stunning fifth round stoppage. Froch has vowed to put
thoughts of a rematch with the Canadian and a future bout with old foe
Mikkel Kessler to one side as he prepares for his 15th contest in the Arena against the Philadelphian boxer.
“After beating Lucian I feel like I’m back on top of the World,” said
Froch. “I’m in great shape, I’m running faster than ever. I am breaking
records in training and I’m surprising myself, so at 35 I feel like I’m
at my peak and that there’s plenty more to come.
“People have been asking me when I plan to hang the gloves up – a
year, 18 months – I’m not going to put a time frame on it, as long as I
have the desire to keep getting up and doing the hard training which I
have, then I’m still going to be going.
“He’s coming over to the lion’s den and there’s only going to be one
winner – I’ll do whatever I can to put Yusaf Mack on his back.”
Mack fights for a World title for the second time in his career
having challenged Tavoris Cloud for the light heavyweight crown last
June and promises to give everything on November 17.
“I’m here to give a champion the fight of his life,” said Mack. “Come
fight night, its going down. I’m back at my preferred weight and I’m
not coming to England to lay down.”
