By Clive Bernath. Despite Tyson Fury stating that a domestic heavyweight showdown with David Haye is ‘ninty nine per cent’ a done deal the Londoner says this is not the case.
Fury announced last weekend that the domestic heavyweight showdown of the year pretty much a ‘done deal’ clearing the way for a September showdown but Haye took to his Twitter page on Monday to set the record straight: “I read that Fury thinks a fight with me and himself is ‘99% Done’ HAHA. At best i’d say there’s Light Discussions, that are moving slowly. For everyone asking if I’m fighting Fury. I currently have no agreement, or contract in place. But a fight later in the year would be fun.”
Haye may well have said that no agreement or contract is in place but he knows only too well that this is the only fight that makes sound financial sense so barring injury I’d expect both men to be standing opposite each other in the ring come September.
