Former WBO heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison has reportedly passed away at the age of 44. Morrison, who was also famous for starring alongside Sylvester Stallone in Rocky V in 1990, is said to have died from respiratory and organ failure following a battle with Miller Fisher Syndrome.
The fighter’s death was confirmed by his wife Trisha, speaking to martial arts website MMA Dirty.
Morrison, who test positive for HIV in 1996, won the WBO heavyweight title in 1993, defeating George Foreman. Following his testing positive for HIV, Morrison was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Morrison made application to fight again in 2007, stating that the HIV positive test were false.
He became a WBO heavyweight champion in boxing in 1993, beating George Foreman to claim the title.
