Trinidad next For Mosley? Or will Winky Have the Last Laugh?

Feb 17, 2004  Media Report
Who could forget the famous photo of President Harry S. Truman holding up a premature edition of that newspaper on election night 1948, with the banner exclaiming “Dewey Defeats Truman,” when, in fact, it was Truman who was reelected over Thomas Dewey?

“The only way Sugar Shane Mosley gets to a Felix Trinidad fight is as a spectator,” said IBF jr. middleweight champion WINKY WRIGHT, 46-3 (25 KOs), from his Houston, TX-based training camp, where he is preparing for his historic rumble against WBC/WBA super welterweight champion Mosley, 39-2 (35 KOs), in “UNDISPUTED: THE WAR at 154!” to determine the 154-pound division’s first-ever undisputed, three-belt world champion. “UNDISPUTED: THE WAR at 154!” is scheduled for Saturday, March 13, at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, and will be televised live nationally on HBO, beginning at 9:30 P.M. ET / 6:30 P.M. PT.

“Shane can look past me to Trinidad all he wants,” continued Wright, who is in the third year of his second reign as a jr. middleweight champion. “I will have the last laugh, his WBC and WBA belts and the undisputed world title. But to show that I am a sport, I will buy two front row seats to MY fight with Trinidad – one for Shane and the other for Ricardo Mayorga. Between rounds they can count their un-hatched chickens and make plans for their fight for the consolation prize.”

Perhaps Sugar Shane would be wise to brush up on his “Julius Caesar” and “Beware the ides of March?!!”

Tickets for “UNDISPUTED: THE WAR at 154!” Mosley vs Wright, are priced at $600, $400, $200, $100 and $50, and are on sale at the Mandalay Bay Theatre Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. To order tickets by phone, call (702) 632-7580
