In a rematch that is really being fought about 17 years too late, Roy Jones Jr. will face Bernard Hopkins in a 12-round bout in Las Vegas tonight on PPV. Jones, 54-6, 40 KO’s, dominated the inexperienced Hopkins, 50-5-1, 32 KO's, when the two met in 1993 via 12-round unanimous decision. That was then and this is now with the fighters now at opposite ends of the skill spectrum. Jones Jr., was most recently blasted out via 1st round TKO by top-20 168 Lb. contender Danny Green as a 3-1 boxing betting favorite.

Meanwhile, Hopkins turned in one of the best performances of his career just over a year ago with a dominating win over middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik as a 3-1 underdog. The Roy Jones Jr. vs. Bernard Hopkins Boxing Betting Line has Hopkins as a -500 favorite.

It is hard to ignore the fact that Roy Jones Jr. was knocked out as easy as he was in his last bout against a fringe contender. Styles do make fights and Jones Jr. could us his athleticism to do well for a few rounds but at this point he is damaged goods.

The 45-year old Hopkins is a freak of nature that is arguably a better fighter now than he was when he first fought Jones when he was 28-years old. Jones Jr. is only in this fight because of his name and Hopkins quest to gain revenge. Hopkins is still a top-10 pound-4-pound fighter with perfect boxing technique and enough punching power to turn the china chinned Jones’s lights out. Jones struggled to make the light-heavyweight limit and he looked gaunt at the weigh-in. Expect Roy to win a few rounds but be content on just surviving the distance.

The Roy Jones Jr. vs. Bernard Hopkins Total is 11.5 Rounds with the Under at -120.
