Interim W.B.A featherweight champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Yuriorkis Gamboa has decided to try his hand at the promotional business as he has formed Ciclon Promotions. The 27-year old Gamboa, 15-0, 13 KO’s, will be a 50-50 partner with established South Florida boxing promoter Henry Rivalta of Top Level Boxing.

Some may wonder if Gamboa’s boxing career will be distracted by his promotional duties but Rivalta stated at the press conference Wednesday that he will handle the day-to-day operations.

Rivalta is a knowledgeable boxing man and stated that he plans on going after contenders that put on good shows. Yuriorkis Gamboa plans on following the footsteps of Boxer\Promoter Oscar De La Hoya as a “boxing mogul” that helps his fellow pugilist improve their lives.

Gamboa is scheduled to face Whyber Garcia, 22-6, 15 KO’s, in a 12-round bout in Mexico on July 25th.
