Tomasz Adamek vs. Michael Grant Betting Line
By Brad Marchetti (Aug 21, 2010) Doghouse Boxing
Tonight at 10 PM ET on PPV Polish heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek will face hulking fringe American contender Michael Grant. The former light-heavyweight champion Adamek, 41-1, 27 has been an outstanding pro over the last five years with three strong outings at heavyweight. Grant, 46-3, 34 KO’s, has been on the outskirts of the division for the better part of a decade. Grant has been fighting journeyman and palookas but still has an outside punchers chance against the much smaller Adamek. The Tomasz Adamek vs. Michael Grant Betting Line has Adamek as a -1400 moneyline favorite.

Michael Grant is still a capable veteran in the 16th year of his pro career. Grant is a cautious Boxer/Puncher that tries to work at a distance and land his hard right hand. Grant can occasionally put together some hard shots to the head when his opponents obliges him. Grant is slow and hittable but has picked up some crafty moves along with his rope burns. On the stat sheet Grant has been durablee having been stopped only three times in his 49 bout career. Despite appearing to be durable on paper, Grant’s resiliency is questionable with average stamina and suspect desire. Grant’s best asset has always been his size and to his credit, Grant has become better at using distance to his advantage. Grant’s overall technique is average and his lack of focus makes him a shaky bet overall. The Tomasz Adamek vs. Michael Grant Over/Under is at 8.5 Rounds with the UNDER at -145.

Tomasz is an undersized heavyweight but is physically strong with a big heart. Adamek is well-conditioned, durable and a fluid combination puncher with nice snap on his punches. Adamek is light on his feet with a good sense of distance and excellent timing. Adamek is versatile and knows how to stay calm in a firefight with the ability to stand his ground and slug. On defense Adamek has holes. Adamek can be hit fairly easily with right-hands and can he can be cut. Adamek leaves his head in the line of fire for too long and his chin is suspect as a heavyweight.

Grant has a punchers chance but not much of one. Adamek is a fast puncher with plenty of giddyup to crack Grant’s fragile psyche. Adamek is a flawed fighter with mediocre footwork and a questionable punch resistance to heavyweights but he has a large speed advantage with both the hand and foot. Grant does not possess enough aggressiveness or boxing acumen to take advantage of Adamek’s limitations. Adamek is aggressive and has excellent fitness. Adamek will wear down and beat up a tiring Grant down the stretch or possibly blow him out early. Bet the hard punching Pole to win by KO.
