Roman Greenberg vs Cedric Boswell is a heavyweight crossroads fight between an aging fighter eager for a payday in Boswell, and a young Jewish pug eager to show his glossy record is for real in Roman. The last Jewish heavyweight I can think of is Max Baer and Roman Greenberg has a right uppercut that would have made the former heavyweight champ “Madcap” Max proud. The 26 year-old Russian/Israeli Greenberg uses a loose, hands held low style that he has yet to master, and he could get whacked by a titanic Boswell right hand at some point Friday night from Center, Stage in Atlanta, GA.
This fight will be a measuring stick for both fighter’s boxing ability. Cedric Boswell is on a 6 fight winning streak (5 by KO) against below-average competition after losing to contender Jameel McCline by 10th round TKO. The fight with McCline was 4 1\2 years ago however, and we don’t know if the 39-year old has gotten better or worse since that fight. The McCline bout was a step-up fight for Boswell and he failed. Will Cedric rise to the occasion against Roman Greenberg?
This will be Greenberg’s step up fight, as he too has faced suspect opposition on his way up the ranks. Greenberg has been 10 rounds 3 times but never the 12-round distance he could go on Friday. One thing that Roman has displayed in his 135 rounds in the pro ranks is that he takes a pretty decent shot. Bowell’s greatest asset is his punch and if he can’t KO the kid he might get outpointed by Greenberg’s faster reflexes. Expect a good heavyweight crossroads scrap from the two bangers at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA.
