pre-fight hype of this Cuban vs Mexican battle that is sure to satisfy boxing fans need for violence. The boxing betting odds for Nate Campbell vs Joan Guzman favor Guzman at 2-1.
Jacksonville, FL native Nate Campbell is the #1 ranked lightweight in the world coming off the biggest win of his 8-year career against Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz. Campbell is a bully that can fight both inside or outside. Blessed with KO power in either hand, Campbell can put a man’s lights out with one shot to the temple. Although Campbell has fluctuated from 130-138 lbs. he is now a very well-conditioned 135. “The Galaxxy Warrior” has linked up with Don King and he has increased the intensity of his training regime in recent bouts. Nate knows how to use both his offense and defense to create counterpunching opportunities. Campbell occasionally has lost focus in the ring and has been KO’D twice but he is always a tough cookie that stays game throughout. Campbell is long, armed and athletic but he is running a little high on mileage after so many wars at age 36. The boxing betting odds OVER\UNDER for Nate Campbell vs Joan Guzman is at 11.5 rounds with the OVER at -275.
The Dominican Guzman, 28-0, 17 KO’s, is the #2 rated fighter at 130 Lbs and will be making his first apperance at 135 Lbs. against Campbell. Guzman has fought most of his career at 126 Lbs. but he has developed physically into a shredded specimen that should handle the jump in weight easily. Guzman is a rare talent that has Floyd Mayweather Jr. like counterpunching ability with his defensive shoulder rolls, slips and blocks. Guzman is a ring general that makes full use of the squared circle with his excellent agility. Guzman has been dubbed “Little Tyson” because of his good power but he is more of a master boxer with explosiveness. Joan possess some of the fastest hands in the business and is very oily on defense. Guzman can also fight on the inside, bodypunching effectively, but Guzman is at his best when he works off of his sneaky left jab. The knock on Guzman is that he likes to party outside the ring which is common among superbly gifted fighters. Despite the whispers about his training, Guzman has displayed excellent stamina. Joan has remained undefeated in his 11-year pro career against stiff competition and is coming off an impressive decision win over top contender Humberto Soto. Guzman has not KO’d a fighter since 2004.
Look for Campbell to try an turn this fight into a war. Guzman has been working with a good training fit in Floyd Mayweather Sr. Guzman will need to be very slick to beat Campbell who can do a little bit of everything. Guzman will be moving up in weight, but, he looks like his frame can handle it. This is really a 50\50 bout with Guzman’s youth and speed up against Campbell’s power and grit.
